Use a combination in a small household
Combi heating boiler systems offer many space saving and gas cost-efficiency advantages for the small-scale household. With just a combi gas boiler and balanced flue you have all the components you need to fit a full central heating system. With the addition of copper piping to transfer the hot water to the radiators to heat your room you will be complete. Many people might ask whether some components had been omitted from this system. What about the central heating pump, the hot water storage tank and the feed and expansion cylinder.
These pieces are not required by a modern combi gas boiler. You do not need to buy a hot water storage tank, the feed and enlargement tank can be left out of the loft, the other small pieces we have mentioned are in reality built into the combination boiler. Adopting this system means you can retrieve a considerable amount of storage space.
Do not think that all this is new as combination gas boilers have been installed for a while now. Whilst they were first installed in Europe they are now a very popular heating boiler for fitting in the United Kingdom. It is has two main divergences with the system and typical type of gas boilers. The first point to spotlight is that the circulating hot water for the central heating is within a fully sealed system. Having no open outlets there is no need for a feed and expansion cylinder in the attic. Incorporation of a hot water storage vessel within the gas boiler also removes any need for the hot water storage tank.
Hot water is created as you require it, the gas boiler is aware of this when you turn on a hot water valve. The heating boiler can rapidly heat cold water by using an internal heat exchanger. Water from the sealed central heating circuit is heated and is diverted to the hot water heat exchanger heating it up. This allows for cold mains water to be quickly heated before leaving the hot water tap.
Hot water supply to the radiators is a lower priority than the output of instant hot water for the house. The radiators are supplied with hot water once the valve is shut.
If you do have a storage space issue in your dwelling house you should give critical thought to putting in a combination heating boiler when you next replace your gas boiler.
