The rewards and disfavours of the distinct central heating gas boiler models
Various types of Central Heating Systems are available in the heating market. These systems for the most part are made up of a number of heating radiators, pipework and of course a gas heating boiler.
In most parts of the United Kingdom air conditioning is hardly required because of the average temperatures of those regions. In fact, a decent heating system is a necessity in these regions, and due to this, a majority of new houses have a Central Heating system.
As autumn fades and chilly winds begin to blow, householders turn to their Central Heating for warmth and comfort. While snowstorms rage on outside, you can be safe and warm on the inside. Therefore your heating system needs to be efficient and reliable. It should be durable, easy to use and completely safe.
Sealed and vented or pumped systems are the two major types of Gas Central Heating Systems available.
You will find pumped/vented systems in most homes at the moment. Heating systems using the pump or vent process are equipped with a tank to allow for feeding of replacement water and expansion of heated water. The hot water tank performs two functions; firstly, supply hot water to your house, and secondly, provides heat to the radiators. Water expands when heated; this expansion is accommodated in a feed-expansion tank. It is normally placed at the highest place of the house like the loft area, taking up space. It not only heats the house, but also supplies hot water.
Older homes generally have pumped/vented Central Heating systems.
The sealed Central Heating system is one that more and more people are opting for these days. As the name suggests, sealed system is a closed system; no tank is required in this system. This unvented system eliminates water tanks and loft plumbing, thus giving a number of advantages.
- As there are no pipes, they cannot freeze up in the loft.
- No maintenance work on the tank or pipes that would be in the attic in a pumped/vented system.
- Reduces the risk of leaking.
- The air cannot enter the system as its sealed and hence there are lesser chances of sludge, corrosion and air locks developing.
- Can be easily rinsed out under pressure via the main water supply.
A sealed Central Heating System is a system with the required controls and safety equipment all contained in one. The water for a sealed Central Heating System is supplied direct from the main water supply. It feeds directly from the main water supply.
Separated from the sealed system by a diaphragm is a pressure vessel, which contains compressed gas; this vessel is responsible for managing variations of pressure in the heating system. If the pressure is very high in the system, then the water will escape from the safety valve, and if the pressure is too low, then the safety valve will open to let the water in.
Gas Central Heating systems are a great way to keep your home warm, also they don’t cost you as much as the other systems would. Moreover, they offer all kinds of control, which are usually not found in other heating systems giving you a more pleasant environment.
