Don’t overlook heating boiler cover policies
These days there exist insurance policies which can cover a very wide range of events ranging from pet health through standard problems such as mobile cover. Some of them are very important, like motor protection, and also compulsory putting them higher up the scale when compared to others. Lenders need buildings home buildings insurance from borrowers before they will lend money. Cover like this is vital in assuring that the insurance holder is secure and won’t face any devastating predicaments.
Carrying somewhat of a lower degree of importance is central heating insurance, such as those products from npower Hometeam, Eon and British Gas. Perhaps because it is not a requirement to have the likes of central heating insurance it is often overlooked by homeowners and landlords, however repairs of the likes of central heating systems can be very expensive. A broken down central heating system is highly troublesome, particularly in cold weather, and waiting for someone to come and fix it can be utter misery. More worryingly is the prospect of a faulty system leaking carbon monoxide, which can be fatal.
Several types of central heating insurance plans are available. A typical insurance plan can cover basic central heating boiler breakdown with crucial safety checking and servicing once a year. Spare parts and repair work are usually not included in these basic plans as inclusion will increase the costs. For as long as the central heating boiler is under warranty, the manufacturer pays for spare parts and repairs; but it is advisable to upgrade a basic plan to full cover with a little additional payment. This extra money each month is well spent when a boiler is getting close to the end of its working life. Although a customer may just want their boiler covered, it might be prudent to have the rest of the system (radiators, heating controls, central heating pump and so on) covered too.
Watch out for small print before you choose a new insurance policy as there may be limits or exemptions written into the plan. Some providers will limit the number of call outs per year or specify a maximum cost of inclusive repairs for a given period. Central heating insurance is like all other types in that you shouldn’t just go for the cheapest deal and always study whether it has sufficient cover.
