Do not postpone, get central heating this winter

Central heating is the best way to keep your household warm during winters. By centrally heating your home, you can make it more comfortable, inviting and relaxing.

Central heating systems, which basically comprise of a set of heating radiators, boiler and pipework, can be segregated into two distinct classes, pumped systems and vented systems.

The most common out of these is probably the pumped system, these consist of a feed and expansion tank, the hot water tank works as the centre storage, and then heats the radiators via the pipes. The tank has enough space to allow for any water expansion that might result from the heating.

The other type of gas central heating consists of a sealed system, where as there is no enlargement tank to the central heating system. This system is essentially self-providing and therefore does not require any water tanks. It works well in colder countries like Norther Europe because the pipes are less likely to freeze up in this system, in addition to that there are less chances of leaking and there are no airlocks too.

Do I really need a central heating system to heat my house?.

The simple answer is that it will allow you to heat your entire house or office quickly without compromising the air quality. Before the gas central heating system came into existence, other heaters like electric and storage heaters were used to keep the home warm or even coal fires. However, these older heating methods make the air sticky and hard, and can also emit an unpleasant odour.

With gas central heating systems, these problems are not encountered, but your central heating system will require regular maintenance. A lot of households switch them off during the warm summer months and as soon as a cold snap hits, they then switch them on, this should not be done. Instead, as the weather begins to change, you should use it by degrees in order to spot any problems and give you time to call an heating plumber before wintertime.

You should also keep in mind that most households central heating systems can let air or dirt into it, therefore they need yearly draining. You can achieve this most effectively by putting a a bucket under the valve and opening it carefully to release the water, but you need to take extra care to prevent any additional water from entering the system.

No water tanks are necessary because the system is closed.…...

Most heating systems compromise of a gas boiler; heating radiator and pipework, there are basically two different sorts of gas central heating systems, one being a pumped system and the other being a vented system. Popularly used are pumped systems which comprise of a main feed and expansion water tank that heats up and transmits the heat through pipework to secondary heaters (central heating radiators). Provision is made for water to be filled in the expansion tank tank as well as for expansion of the heated water. The second type of heater is composed of a sealed system without a central component that is part of the heating radiator. It’s basically closed, so there is really no need for any…...
